Reuse old check boxes in your home office

Use small containers, such as old check boxes, to separate and store office supplies in a drawer or on a shelf.

Leave ample space in your Home Office drawers

Try not to overcrowd your drawers or shelves in your Home Office. If possible, leave plenty of space between items so you can see them and easily retrieve them. Reserve your drawer space for those items which you use most often.

Use Drawer Dividers in your Home Office

Using drawer dividers in your Home Office can help you stay organized. Place similar items in the same cubby. In this photo, large and small paper clips are placed in separate cubbies.

Sorting your items makes it much easier to see what you have so you can stay organized!

Overtime, most junk drawers become a catchall for miscellaneous items and other items that actually belong elsewhere. It's a good idea to reassess your junk drawer every few months. Discard or relocate the items that you don't need to store in this drawer. The emptier the drawer, the easier it is to find the items you use.

Gently Secure Drawer Organizers

Sometimes drawer organizers will shift out of place when a drawer is opened and closed.  A small piece of poster putty on the bottom of each organizer will keep them secure and also easy to rearrange.

Consolidate your storage containers

If you use plastic food storage containers, purchase several same-size containers.  This way,  you'll be able to stack them and it'll be easier to find a matching lid.

Use Drawer Organizers

Use small bins or drawer organizers to store small items on a shelf or in a drawer.

Do Not Overcrowd your Drawers

Try not to over fill or overcrowd your drawers.  When drawers are too full it makes it harder to find what you need.

Gain Space in Kitchen Drawers

The easiest way to gain space in a Kitchen drawer is to eliminate duplicates and nonessential items.  If you have duplicate items, ask yourself these questions:
  • Do I use both?
  • Do I need to keep both?

Group Similar Items Together

When you group like items together you can easily see what you have.  Do you  have more than you thought you had?

Organize One Drawer at a Time

When you're getting organized, only focus on one drawer, one cabinet or one shelf at a time.  This strategy will prevent you from taking on too much and getting overwhelmed.
